So i discovered this comic via my new android phone. And i really like it.
One of those stories where you just want to read the next bit, and the next bit. Funny characters, relationship issues, obscure musical references, interesting tee-shirts, plenty of punchline, engaging visuals.
Yes i keep wanting to know what happens to the characters, so i think i’ve read 6 years worth in 6 weeks. Keeps me from spending all my spare time watching television series like BSG and Glee.
If you’re into comics at all, i’d recommend this one.

Update: 27Nov.
Well I’ve read the entire series now, and I’m currently having to wait for a single update per day. If I’m lucky.
Oh how I wish I had read more slowly.
Dude you have no Qu’ran.
You’ve got to love the Autotune remixes.
i don’t know what’s going on in the USA at the moment. They’ve got a brilliant leader, and a whole bunch of intelligent creative compassionate people working for social change, but somehow there’s still idiots who want to burn Holy Books during a really ugly world war.
And then there’s the cool people who just run up and spoil the media event. On top of that, someone is going to make an autotune remix out of anything these days.
—————————————- Thinking:
One of the comments on the youtube video page was this: ‘so, let me get this straight: hippies love to burn flags but can’t stand to see the Koran get burnt?’
Interesting point.
i think it’s a bit like Jewish jokes. You can make all the anti-Jewish jokes you like, if you are in fact a Jewish person.
You can burn the US flag if you’re a US citizen. (okay, it’s not legal, i mean under my rules which i’m making up right now)
You can criticise the heck out of your own relationship, tear yourself to shreds, burn the Bible if you’re raised a Christian, find the weak spots in your cooking strategies, etc.
But lay off other people’s business.
. . . . .
How about this joyful piece from andrea dorfman in Halifax. The same woman who made that previous one.
Cycling is something i love too.
Thanks Andrea!
a beautiful film, via Angelina in the North of Italy, where her new yoga practice is making her seek out tranquility. She’s always had an eye for gorgeousness. This piece comes from people in Halifax, Nova Scotia, one of my favourite places. A woman called Tanya Davis is the poet, and Andrea Dorfman the animator.
Here’s another by the same team, Tanya and Andrea. i like it.

What a gorgeous surprise!
We’re about 5 metres back from the festival hall stage, soaking up the funky glam rock disco..
When the crowd starts to go wild over a song I haven’t heard before.
Must be a good one, I guess.
Then I notice a third singer on stage between Jake and Ana.
No way!
It’s Kylie.
Home town crowd, at a disco gig, you would expect some excitement, but this was hysteria.
..and for such a super-daggy song!
i tried to take a photo on the phone, but my phone’s camera is not great at night.
PS oh whoops, i just discovered that ‘super daggy song’ is Kylie’s latest release. *Not* a lame cover of some country and western number. That was the encore – she sang harmony on one of their songs during the show.
This is Melbourne, there’s always a dozen amazing exhibitions to visit.
I reckon these two could be really good.

Lauren Simmonds (had) an exhibition opening Thursday 3 June at the Napier Hotel – Skin and Bone –
Went to see Jessie Tucker’s exhibition at the Brunswick Arts Space last night. She’s made a thoroughly gorgeous set of “rare birds” – Avis Rara – in the style of trophies on the wall, with beautiful colour and design.
i wish i’d taken some photos, because all the pieces sold within the first 90 minutes, and who knows when i’ll get all the way back to old Brunswick town again.
An owl, a flamingo, a couple of love birds, some kind of hummingbird with a unicorn – all with lovely old world titles. My favourite was definitely the owl and i was thinking of investing, but i took too long thinking about it and bam, someone else grabbed it.
Would definitely recommend you pop into the gallery and see the birds before they fly off to their new homes.
The only reference i can find online is via BrunswickArts’ facebook page with
Sam and Tim went to Tasmania. i went to the airport. That was fun too, especially when we rocked up the first time, and there was serious disco playing in the car as the kids got out. Tim says, “You can’t go til the song’s finished.” But i was mean, and i drove off, dancing in the driver seat.
It was a great mix, on 3RRR, song after song of goodness. We heard a full on version of oh, what was it, with Siouxsie on backing vocals .. remind me Tim.
mm, take a look at Uncle Paul’s view, on the Ratty Blog. i wanna go to Tassie already.
Aha! Sam now i know what you mean.. the Bob Fossil Don’t Like Reggae routine. Yes.
