who is michael chalk?

Michael Chalk is a musician, performer and adult educator in the northern suburbs of Melbourne. This part of the site emerges from his personal and social reflections .. so it’s probably only family and friends who’ll venture over here. Possibly not even them.

My favourite creative explorations and other pursuits lately have been:

  • singing with the first chorus band of singers, and our offshoot band Deep Soprano
  • dancing with the Real Hot Bitches, Melbourne branch
  • playing piano, accompanying wonderful singers like J Sophie Delightful, Nikki Santos, Edel Fleming, Fern White..
  • singing alongside the incomparable Suzi Cue as she transforms into Tony Turnher for the Private Dancer show
  • performing with the extraordinary Julian Chapple and his voracious band of brigands in the Gherkin Games Alacazar, for The Village Festival (Castlemaine, Falls Fest)
  • running occasional sing-along sessions known as “Songs from the Hat” (c/- Kamp Kraken & Bean Bag Babylon, at Burning Seed, Rainbow, and The Town festivals)
  • being a television addict – Westworld, Jessica Jones, Black Mirror, Agents of Shield, Bob’s Burgers, Archer.. and in the past Heroes, Buffy, Glee, Battlestar Galactica, Californication (no, did i really?), Doctor Who, Deadwood, etc
  • cooking with beetroot and pumpkin
  • cycling through the streets of brunswick and northcote
  • visiting ceres environmental park

i also write about work-related stuff, over on the other blog – literacies, participatory digital culture, e-learning, gadgets, that kind of thing..

kthxbye
